Copper Tax rolls by 8 in first start against winners

In his first start since a 4 ½-length June 28 maiden win, Copper Tax rolled to another impressive victory on Sept. 1, hitting the wire eight lengths ahead of his foes in a 5 ½-furlong allowance race  at Delaware Park.

The 2-year-old colt is the first repeat winner for Copper Bullet, who currently leads the First-Crop sire list by average earnings per starter and is in the top 10 by progeny earnings.

Copper Tax was several lengths off the lead in the first furlong, but quickly rushed up to challenge for the lead going into the turn. After giving up the lead to Dalinar, Copper Tax rallied again and separated himself from the field to win in hand.

Copper Tax is 2-1-0 in three starts and has earned $60,000 for Rose Petal Stable LLC. The bay colt was bred by Lance Sullenberger and is the second foal out of the stakes-placed Wilhelmina.
